The Centre for Addiction Research, housed at the University of Victoria, provides science-based research and information on substance use issues to policy-makers, service providers and the general public.
Reaching the public with objective information about alcohol and drug addiction and substance use is a challenge the Centre meets through a public education unit, Substance Information Link (SIL).
Element helped brand the University's SIL unit by developing a name, logo and tagline that conveyed their message. Element also produced a public education campaign for the organization's "Addiction Awareness Week" that involved print and online advertising as well as the development of an interactive website, www.alcoholreality.ca.
Element is now providing on-going counsel on how to reach and involve the public in dealing with tobacco, drug and alcohol use as the Alcohol Reality website has become standard for harm reduction communication on alcohol use used by organizations throughout the country.
