• Tax Cuts for Wealthy : The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center recently calculated that most of the tax cuts-53% to be exact-went to the highest-earning 10% of US individuals and families. • Tax Cuts for Large Corporations : Spano refused to support an effort to close corporate tax loopholes which would have raised hundreds of millions of dollars, allowing us to lower tax rates for small businesses (MTA S.7471 – 2004).
• Bush and his Republican colleagues are to blame for large unfunded mandates at the federal level. • Spano and his Republican colleagues are to blame for large unfunded mandates at the state level : The state has passed more than $2.5 billion in unfunded mandates during Spano’s tenure in Medicaid alone.
